I remember when this came out. I thought it was real.
1982…. I think this started my love for pro wrestling..
Sssssick
Andy died the next year 😢😢
This is a skit. Not nice to speak bad of the dead, so, I'll leave it there.
Wow great version of this oldie love it❤thanks for sharing.
Always thought this was a Naked Eyes tune
Brilliant
This reminds me of when everyone thought AC Slater beat up Screech but , he didn’t but , everyone felt sorry for Screech anyway.
Brilliant work. 2 masters of their crafts.
Am I the only one who saw Lawler wink at Kaufman? 4:40
My take on Kaufman: I never saw any 'genius'. I never thought anything he did was funny or entertaining or talented. I just saw him as an asshole.
Dave can’t pronounce Andy’s last name.
It's hard to believe this was staged. It looked so realistic. From my understanding Kaufman wasn't expecting the slap!
*Wrestling took their performances out of the ringside area onto television talkshows. That's quite a commitment to their performance, indeed*
I remember my dad getting so mad at Kaufman's antics, disrupting the wrestling TV show every Saturday morning...meanwhile, I was laughing my ass off since I knew of Andy's confrontational comedy from other TV shows. Andy was made for wrestling. Amazing heel.
De quel concert s' agit - il Année et la Ville ! 🤔
I love Kaufman at the end when he realizes this scenario doesn't make any sense. If they hate each other why would a mic and camera be set up for them to talk.
Love the bass drum
Rove's voice sounds exactly the same as today.
What was cool in those days was that there weren't 1000 channels to get distracted, so the only thing to do was watch Andy Kaufman on Letterman .
Too funny.
Great rib on everyone
Holy hell his TN impression was hilarious. That would NOT fly in 2024 😂
Andy was fascinated by the fake aspect of wrestling. To be honest it's a very hard job. It's a physical performance that requires lots of effort regardless of whether it's scripted or not. The, "stunts," which aren't safe, often take a toll on the health and length of the life of the wrestler. Aside from that, I think Andy was fascinated with the facts that this fake performance had captivated such a large crowd of people who seemingly knew it wasn't real, but didn't care and enjoyed it as if it was real. I guess he figured he'd provide some comic relief, there were a lot of comedy acts in wrestling in the '80s if I remember correctly so I'm not sure if Andy was the one that started it. I don't follow it a lot so I don't know, I remember growing up seeing this clip and thinking it was real because I wasn't familiar with whatever league they were in and because it looked so believable, I thought Andy at hopped in and they just did a number on him. I didn't know the whole thing was fake
Michael sounds great thanks for sharing!
Did people think this was for real. That slap was more of a clap it didnt connect.
When this happened the NY TIMES thought it was real as they published a story the next day. Times have changed. I assume you are a child so don't bother trying to understand those times
IVE BEATEN WOMEN WAY BIGGER THAN HIM 👀👽
Rick Beato's Michael Macdonald interview brought me here.
Ha! Me too! This would definitely be an example of where modern technology works for the fans of music or anything… in particular for those who seek out whatever may strike their fancy at any given moment, allowing them to go off on a tangent.
Stark looks like he can squash Lawler like a bug. 😂
You wanna “rassle” me? You wanna “rassle” me Memphis style? You’re from Memphis Tennessee, all you do is plow fields and farm…is that how you talk in Memphis Tennessee Mr. Lawler? DUH!
Andy Kaufman Ist ich eine Legende
I was such a a Memphis wrestling fan in the late 70s. It was amazing.
better than WWE's weekly serving of drivel for the past 11 years.
What kind of a guy are you?
Awesome. Both. Great. Skit
Marlon Wayans I Saw Him?
racist online groupchats be like
"Teasing in fun." gonads to tease Plancktonian universe ! Used his time well!
I love Michaels version of this song I have never heard it before thank you for sharing!
Andy was a huge wrestling fan.
My football coach at Bartlett High School. Great guy. Faced a lot with his kids health, and never missed a lick.
So that went on the air unbleeped?
I'm not still doing it, but for YEARS I though Kaufman's death was gonna be another one of his bits, that he was gonna show up out of the blue...I had my fingers crossed, anyway.
The crowd ruined this..
ANOTHER FUN FACT: The coffee throw was unplanned but Andy wanted to shock Jerry to make the "feud" seem more real. Andy waited for it to cool down because he did not want to burn Jerry. Again, these two were the best of friends in real life and had socialized with each other. They pulled the biggest hoax in TV history.
FUN FACT: The "slap" was staged in advance. These two were good friends in real life and both pre-choreographed the whole thing. Jerry did not want to hit Andy but Andy had talked him into it.
The slap wasn't pre-choreographed, and there was no coffee in Dave's cup. Great "facts" buddy.
The slap WAS planned in advance, "buddy". And there was liquid in the cup. @@bettinggetter
@@gmail4218 Definitely getting warmer
Three geniuses in their primes
Lol …some black clown…😂❤
I wonder if Bad News and Lawler had a chat before this one lol
@@scotthubbertThis wasn't Bad News. You're thinking of Allen Coage aka Bad News Allen aka Bad News Brown. The guy in this video is Roland Daniels aka Bad, Bad Leroy Brown, who tag teamed with Bad News Allen in Japan in1985.
jewish man from hollywood. interesting
Shut up, moron.
